ALBUM REVIEW: ABADDON INCARNATE - Pessimist
RELEASE DATE: 06/23/2014
The irish grindcore band Abaddon Incarnated released their new album Pessimist, by the hand of Candlelight Records the past June.
Pessimist is a good and powerful record that becomes a great example of the current movement of Europe’s extreme death metal, but most important, it is a true grindcore sound that is supported by the almost 20 years of experience of the band in the underground scene. The album is quick as a bullet since it’s playing time is less than 40 minutes, however is a bullet that will blow your mind.
There was a lot of expectation from the fans around this new record since the release in 2009 of Cascade which was acclaimed by the audience. I think this album will not disappoint the fans, because even though it didn’t reinvented grindcore it is quite a standard for its genre, that definitively leaves the listener wanting more.
The high speed power of Pessimist is provided by guitarists Steve Maher and Bill Whelan supported by the amazing fast pace and precision of King’s drums. It is a great mix of high density Swedish death metal grindcore with a groovy beat that recalls to other great bands of the movement such as Nihilist and Napalm Death.
Candlelight records recently included the Abaddon Incarnated track Fear on their “Legion III Sampler” record which includes other bands such as Corrosion Of Conformity, Coldwar, Demonic Resurrection and 20+ others. Score: 7 out of 10
