Hello again to all my metal maniacs. Today I have a review from a band that you may not have heard of but you soon will. The band is Allegaeon and their album Elements of the Infinite. So read ahead and get to know this talented band and hear what their newest album has to offer. Enjoy!
“Elements of the Infinite” is the upcoming release for Allegaeon and will be available June 24th, 2014 on Metal Blade Records. Allegaeons members are a diverse group as is their music allowing the listener an enjoyable listening experience. This album was recorded at flatline audio by Dave Otero in their home state of Colorado. Allegaeon brings forth the new breed of metal music, meshing an array of styles together in one release, which is rare in this day and age.
I recently interviewed Mike and Greg from Allegaeon which gave me some extra insight into their writing process. Listening to the album I was able to pick up on all the intricate details that the band told me about. Lead singer Ezra Haynes is very specific down to the most minute detail i including counting the syllables so that the vocals and lyrics match up with the music. Guitarists Mike Stancell and Greg Burgess masterfully pick every note with feeling and with such ease, that they make the face melting riffs and solos they play seem effortless. Ezra has some amazing natural talent and I was drawn towards his wide screaming range. I picked up on many different styles and influences that it was difficult to pick out one that is predominant among them all. There are elements of death metal, hardcore, sludge metal and much more. Listen to Elements of the Infinite once and it will leave you hooked.
“Threshold of Perception”, the albums opening track was my favorite for a multitude of reasons. This song is a metal medley and is a great preface to a diverse and engaging world that Allegaeon engulfs their audience in. The acoustic lead in with the ambient backing track creates a vibe and aura that will capture your attention almost instantly. But not to worry, the band doesn’t wait long before the brutality begins, and it’s a damn fun ride!
“1.618” the albums first single was a stand out tune as well. Hearing the story behind this songr added another element for me. It’s no surprise that a group of meticulous musicians would write a song about the golden ratio. This song really makes me bang my head, and the weird looks i get in my car while listening to this song is priceless. This song very well may end up being “Single of the year” in my book.
What else is there to say about this album. I had only recently discovered this band and i’m glad i did. This band should see amazing numbers with “Elements of the Infinite” and metal fans everywhere should applaud this talented band from Colorado. I could easily see this band reaching the pinnacle of the metal world in the blink of an eye. I highly recommend this album to any metal fan. Go pick up a copy of this album, you won’t be disappointed. Amazing job guys, keep up the good work. I give this album an insane 10 out of 10 horns \m/
