Marty : Thanks Sean. I`d say the fact that my 12th solo album, "Inferno" is by far the best one that I`ve done is something I`m really happy about. I`m glad that my work keeps getting noticeably better.
Asian Invasion: You have worked with quite a few highly esteemed musicians. What musician would you like to work with that you haven't yet?
Marty : There are several Japanese producers I`d love to work with, mainly Yasutaka Nakata and Komuro Tetsuya.
Asian Invasion : Inferno recently released and I'm super impressed with it. How was it working with Danko Jones and David Davidson and what made you want to do something with them?
Marty: Those guys are great and brought tons of talent and enthusiasm. Danko is a long time friend of mine and David is a new friend. Both brought their A-game to the album.
Asian Invasion : I've also watched a bunch of episodes of Rock Fujiyama. How did you get hooked up with that show?
Marty : I had a hit show called "Hebimeta san" ("Mr. Heavy Metal") that lasted 26 weeks. Rock Fujiyama was a spinoff from that and it went for 52 weeks. After taping "Hebimeta san", my management became really active in getting me on TV. It was crazy hard work, but I liked the mental stimulation.
Asian Invasion : Who was your favorite guest on that show and what was your favorite moment?
Marty : Could not choose...too many fun people. My fave moment was definitely jamming with enka legend Yashiro Aki. I could not wipe the smile off my face. But all the guests loved the show and they were all super.
Asian Invasion : How long did take for you to pick up on the Japanese language?
Marty ; I`ve always been speaking it so it`s hard to say. It`s like music, you grow as you go.
Asian Invasion : If there's any band, past or present, that you would like to play in, who would it be?
Marty ; A brand new super band.
Asian Invasion : What is one of the craziest stories you have while you were on tour?
Marty ; After a while nothing seems crazy. There are a lot of crazy girl related stories, but I don`t know who`s reading this....
Asian Invasion ; What's the weirdest fan encounter you've experienced?
Marty : Like I said, nothing stands out. After you`ve had your fair share of stalkers and weirdos, it all blends together.
Asian Invasion : When everything's all said and done and you hang up the guitar, what do you want to be remembered for?
Marty : Who said anything about hanging up the guitar?
Asian Invasion : Thank you so much for your time Marty, it's greatly appreciated. Rock on!
Marty : Thank you, Sean!
