Hey folks, The Asian Invasion bringing down another album review.
Speaking With The Devil is the brand new opus from Chilean speed metallers Demona.
The album consists of 9 high octane thrashers with an intro and outro to bookend the effort. Although it's not insanely original, it's very pleasing to the ears and I was more than satisfied after giving a listen to the intensity.
The band started in Chile in 2007 as a one woman project with singer/guitarist Tanza. They released some demos and their debut album Metal Through The Time met generally rave reviews. It's a full lineup now and the overall product is superb.
It's fast and furious, just the way I like my metal. The guitar riffs are sheer power and disdain for rules. The crunch behind it sets it apart from many other international acts.
Tanza is the real shining star here. The tracks 'Malvenidos' and 'Dirty Speed Metal' just erupt. I find her vocals are insatiable and they intimidate as well. She has plenty of originality in her singing and her delivery is quite passionate. She has a certain quality about her voice that draws you in and it really enhances the songs here.
There's basically no slow down anywhere. This record will not release it's death grip on you until the conclusion of it. It even has a bit of a punk feeling to it, which I'm a huge fan of.
Imagine some new heavy Exodus riffs mixed in with an irresistible and anthemic lead singer who catches you with her beautiful, destructive lyrics.
Sounds like a winner to me!
Check out Demona, you won't regret it. It drops on December 20.
