Amaranthe has been putting out melodic metal music and amazing fans for four years now. After some much deserved success, the band is offering a “Bsides” album, titled “Breaking Point.” The album consists of six acoustic tracks and two normal recordings.
The acoustic songs on this album are actually pretty good. The duet with two singers makes for an enjoyable acoustic experience. The male and female vocal blend does a great job breaking up the monotony that guitaronly music can generally create. Where the drumless songs fail the most, however, is the fact that it sounds pretty much the same as every other acoustic song available. The only element of these six songs that makes it different than most is the duet. The two songs on the offering that are not acoustic are quite good. The title track opens with an amazingly fast guitar solo and has harmony throughout.
When it comes to “Breaking Point – Bsides 20112015”, the bottom line is: If you like Amaranthe, this is a purchase without hesitation. The two nonacoustic songs alone will make it worth the money. If you a fan of acoustic music looking for something out of the ordinary, look elsewhere.
