W.A.S.P has been banging heads and entertaining audiences since the early 80s. With fourteen albums under their belt, they have an impressive library of some of the best metal music any one person can find. After an extended absence of releasing new material, W.A.S.P. is back with their next offering: Golgotha.
Golgotha is a hair metal album through and through. Everything one can expect from an album of this genre is here. From melodic ballads, great concise riffs, and amazing guitar solos, Golgotha is a hair metal fan's dream. There is, however, one thing that makes this recording stand out from the rest of the hair metal bands that are out there. That thing is soul. A lot of hair metal that this DJ has heard seemed to lack something. In this DJ's opinion, there was always something missing that really made the great compositions of other bands from this genre take flight and soar to new heights. W.A.S.P. found that and incorporated it into every track on Golgotha. The ballads seem more real, the solos have a greater effect, and the riffs flow better than on anything from this genre before it.
W.A.S.P found soul in their new recording. They put together the pieces of a 30+ year career to ultimately record what is clearly an astounding record. If hair metal is what one craves, then W.A.S.P's Golgotha is next on the purchase list. Any fan of the genre would be missing something if they passed up this excellent recording.
