Born out of the darkness of Siberia and re-located on the shores of Oslo, Norway in 2012, progressive metal band Defect Designer is set to release their second full length album "Ageing Accelerator" on July 13 via Sleazy Rider Records.
This release features a killer recording line up that includes drummer Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy), guitarist Stelios Mavromitis (SepticFlesh live guitarist), Martin Storm-Olsen (ex-Trollfest) on guitars and clean vocals, Christos Antoniou (SepticFlesh) for sampling and orchestration along with Dmitry Sukhinin on vocals, bass and guitars.
When it comes to pure, unadulterated death metal, this disk is about as good as it gets. Tracks like "Corpsewatcher", "Yellow Grimace" and "The Terrible" are a complete metal assault on the ears. If you like your death metal brutal with a side of chaotic musicianship, this release is definitely for you.
The atmosphere of the whole album is something that really keeps you hooked. There's something in there for everyone as it doesn't seem to stick to one take on the genre. It's complex and damn near black metal as well. It's composed very well too; Dmitry Sukhinin is a multi-instrumentalist who handles mostly everything on the record, sans drums. The legendary Flo Mounier of Cryptopsy annihilates his drum kit as you no doubt expect him to, every time out. The entire release is greatly benefited by his playing and Dmitry is super talented as well.
A solid 3.5 / 5. Go buy it the second July 13 hits.
