Coming from London, England they have been the for front of Heavy Metal and considered one of the metal gods out there, and I know why. It is because they produce a lot of albums and have a lot of material to go on. I mean twenty studio albums, seven live recordings, five compilation albums and five EP’s, how are they not gods of metal?
Now this album is a little late considering that Lemmy said that they would be pretty much releasing an album every two years and have done so since 1996, but we won’t hold that against them since Lemmy wasn’t well last year and he had to take some time off.
So what is this album like? Go back to the roots of Motorhead, put in better recording equipment and let them go at what they know best. ROCKING THE FUCK OUT! Motorhead has always been tight when it comes to their music that is nothing new at all. They work so well together to keep their sound original and irreplaceable (unless you are a tribute band that has their sound down pat)
The way they put the bluesy sound and put it into a metal category really has always been spectacular and this is no different, they bring their A game to this album. With a compilation of slower songs and fast paced songs it makes for an almost perfectly balanced album.
Lyrics are your typical party, drinking, women and life stories nothing to new with that, but lots of material for Lemmy to sing about for sure! What else can you say about a band that has been playing for almost 40 years? You know the sound you know the style, they aren’t changing anytime soon and if you don’t know who they are, then you should look at hearing them to get some great old school metal in your system! That and what rock have you been living under to not know who Motorhead is?
With how this album sounds it seems that Motorhead is not stopping anytime soon and they have so much to keep going for years to come!
With 14 songs this album comes in just shy of 47 mins, with most songs not going over 3 mins. It does make for a fast paced album and you will find yourself wanting more of the album and the replay value of this album is awesome as well!
My favorite song that I have heard from this album is “Queen of the Dammed” just the way it is put together and the tempo and lyrics, makes it for one of the best songs out there!
Over all this album is a solid 8/10, well worth a few listens to and even buying the album. It is put together really well and these old metal gods are showing the young ones how to rock out still and keep going cause you are that…. Damn…. Good!
For now I’m PK saying ROCK ON and we will see you next time!
