WARBEAST.. OH the things I can say and will say about them in this review. However you guys always need a history lesson so let’s see what we can pull up shall we?
When this band came out they were under the name of Texas Metal Alliance in 2006 that were, well from Texas! Three years later they changed their name to WARBEAST, they actually are under a signed label and are releasing their full second album Destroy April 2nd. So how does it sound?
FUCKING HEAVY!! From the first riff to the last chord it is nothing but fast hard core thrash metal at its finest!
The first song is an instrumental, but it gives you an idea of what you are in for and what they brought to this album, sounding like it is coming straight from a very violent video game as the background music it will get your head to nod. The kick of the double bass drums with the bass guitar kicking it up a notch gives the guitars something to really play out to. It has a slayer style to it. Which then leads into the second song
The second song Nightmares in the Sky bring it at the level that the album stays at for the rest of it.. Hard and fucking fast! This you get your first listen at the vocals and as he is shouting them, you still can hear them clearly and fucking fast too! It is a pleasure to hear something this hard and fast actually have some clarity to it. It even has some kick ass guitar solos… but wait that is only the second song!
They still come at you with seven more songs, and they do not let up. Is it the fact that the singer is one and the same from Rigor Mortis... or is it the fact that they actually took this on a level that you don’t normally see?
Well if you ask me it is a level you don’t normally see in this genre of music. This has transitions between songs that actually make each one original; they don’t quite run into each other. From the song Warbeast to Nobody it brings a sound that keeps you wanting more and it is truly refreshing to hear something this fast and hard to even tossing in an awesome song with a kick ass message as Egotistical Bastard. The music flows with the lyrics and vice versa, it truly is one for the ages!
I think all you thrash metal fans out there would really love to pick up this beast of an album! This one has it for you, but don’t take my word for it pick it up and hear it for yourself! I don’t think you’d be disappointed at all.. Hell even if it is just for the guitar solos then get it for that, they teach you that no matter what you can keep the solos in there and they can be hard and fast! That is 43 mins and nine songs of hard and fast!!! That is quite the album, sure the longest song is 7:33 and the shortest is 2:43 not bad over all for averages if you ask me.
Best and worst time…. Best has to be Warbeast! It comes out hard and heavy and brings with it some head banging licks that makes you want to just go fucking nuts! Two solos that come in hard and fast just make it that much better! This is the song for that album for sure.
Worst song, well Destroy, as much as they use the word “destroy” a lot, I think they over use it, and well over half the song has it, unique yes, but overkill. Not really a song more of a chanting with music behind it.
So what would this Metal Head give it…. 8 out of 10, yes the last song is pretty much a “fuck it all we rocked your faces off” kind of song, it just didn’t finish off the album fully enough. But the rest of it... holy shit it was good!
So for now my beer is done and so is this review. Until next time this is PK saying ROCK on and we will see you on the next show!
