Heavy hitting right outta the gate "A Call To Arms" is a quick instrumental intro that segues nicely to the albums title track which has a strong Iron Maiden feel to it ( vocalist Jesse Onur has a side project "Ed Force 1" Maiden Tribute) which glimmers here and there through the album . Twin guitar anthems echo over the quick galloping beat with a polished well engineered effect and strong lyrics hold this one high. We're off to a good start!
"Empty Threat" has a deeper double bass blast to it with rich sweeping guitar rhythm and ascending lead runs that mesmerize. The vocals are raw yet always retaining a melodic frame and range, reaching superb highs.
Rumbling loud and proud "Prisoner of You World" drives like a great motorcycle down an open road at full throttle. Anthe-mic vocals roaring with youths rebellion, remind me of early Black Tide but more powerful. The band credits Iced Earth, Helloween, Gamma Ray, Blind Guardian, Iron Savior, Hammerfall & Megadeth as some of their influences, which bode well on "The Call Of The Crow". Conjouring a melodic magus-opus that sits well in yer psyche with an appealing groove. It will surely knock the dust off yer speakers when you crank er up.
Like most tracks on Conquer & Command the music has a very dynamic and progressive movement throughout , that keep things interesting and not wandering much. There's no synth or keys to make things boring or predictable, instead, always well planned out guitar duets/duels at blistering speeds. "The Strike Of The Sword" has a great European groove to it, reaching a frenzied pace with Jesse hitting some very powerful notes. A superb track with a very catchy melody.
"The Ravens Return" swoops down fast and furious with trigger beats and wailing rhythm. Sweeping lead solos accompany the double time verse, placing the sonic chorus line front and center. A straight shooting heavy metal rocker "One By One" knocks the bullet out of the chamber with gritty ease, demonstrating Silent Knights diverse writing skills and mixing things up a bit.
"Power Metal Supreme" rips with flawless flow from start to finish. Bombastic drum beats and meaty guitar hooks keep the rhythm alive with a sweet rumbling bass passage that will keep them fists in the air. Strong positive lyrics along with excellent fret-work, bring this one over the top!
Track ten on Conquer & Command is a cover of Europe's "Final Countdown" done at a slightly faster tempo than the original with blazing lead notes and quick double kick drumming with an explosive ending. An excellent up-to-the-times addition of a timeless classic.
Overall I like this new release and see it as a positive, fresh inclusion to the metal world of genres. Anyone who enjoys power metal music will thoroughly enjoy the depth and degree that Silent Knight put forth through their music, for such a young (new) band, breaking onto the world-wide map.
I give this release 8 outta 10 power metal supreme pumping fists!
