Europe and India will finally see an official release on March 27 of this year and it's a recording that's definitely going to turn some heads.
The first thing I noticed when I delved deep into "Catacombs" was the super tight production. This doesn't sound anywhere near a band releasing it's debut full length. They have released a few EP's prior, but nothing this long in duration. I can most assuredly say that the opening track 'Desolation' sets the scene for what is about to come; haunting, eerie and awesome death metal.
Songs like 'Perpetual Deception', 'Pendulum' and 'Defiled' are standouts for me. They make me think that bands like Opeth, Gojira and Dark Tranquility are major influences to this band. There's some real sick guitar harmonies throughout and this foursome is no doubt talented.
The riff writing is rock solid and some of the solos by Chehayeb are bluesy; something you don't hear every day in death metal. Luckily, these were a healthy addition to an already powerful record.
Get online, get this album and be more than pleased with it. I definitely am.
